The Gateway academic journal 2025 launch event!

The Gateway academic journal 2025 was launched to a crowd of around 40 parents, staff and guests, last week, with speeches from student contributors, Editor Mr Smallman and Chair of Governor Rear Admiral John Kingwell. This year’s edition, primarily focusing on the impact of AI, showcases the very best of our Sixth Form thinking. The pupil submissions tackle questions that will never appear on an exam paper, but could easily spark a fascinating conversation at a university interview. When one of our students writes about Denis Noble’s criticism of Richard Dawkins’ neo-Darwinism, or explores the philosophical implications of Al consciousness, they’re engaging with ideas that sit at the cutting edge of their disciplines. They’re thinking like scholars, not just students cramming for their next assessment. Eighteen ambitious articles demonstrating the kind of intellectual curiosity we foster at Battle Abbey. A huge well done to all our contributors.
