Earlier this year Battle Abbey Textiles teacher Mrs Townshend suggested Sixth Form art student and School Guardian Lizzie D should enter a competition that the Jimmy Choo Academy (JCA) were running. The prize was a place at the two week JCA summer school. Although not outright winner Lizzie was chosen as runner up so still got an invitation! Lizzie attended the course from 22nd July through to 2nd August. Week one content was based to upcycling and understanding different fabrics, whilst week two was mainly linked to portfolio creation and development. Pictured here is the practical work Lizzie completed as part of the upcycling projected. Also some mood boards she created inspired by research linked to the elements. (Also, one inspired by the Barbie exhibition in London).
