The French Café (part of the Rosetta Society) this week celebrated Candlemas “à la mode française”.
In France, La Chandeleur (Candlemas) on February 2nd is traditionally celebrated by making and eating crêpes. There is also a superstition: while flipping a crêpe with one hand, you should hold a gold coin (or in our case a euro coin!!!) in the other. If you succeed, it is said to bring good fortune for the year ahead! And yes, everyone does it in France!
All the students had a chance to flip a pancake and Ben, Luca and Caleb were the most skilled, with an excess of 30 flips each without dropping the pancake. Let’s keep fingers crossed it will bring them good fortune in 2025. We would like to say a big thank you to the catering department for supplying the pancakes. Merci beaucoup….
Also thank you so much to Elodie (Year 7) who made pancakes on Sunday and brought them in on Monday morning to share with her Form. (All footage taken by the BBC Society!)
