Welcome to the IT Department

Our aim is to provide your child with the tools they need to progress in their IT careers. We provide the latest Server and Workstation technology including services such as Citrix and Office365. Our school has embraced the wonderful educational benefits that Microsoft provides and every pupil is entitled to a free copy of Microsoft Office during their time at the Abbey. Our department has expertise in Microsoft, Apple and Linux systems and we have implemented various technology from these platforms throughout the school. We also provide the popular Firefly Virtual Learning Environment for the pupils and teaching staff, a digital platform for classroom learning.

We are also conscious of the environmental impacts of technology, especially with printing, and we encourage the use of digital media wherever possible. We are in the process of configuring a new reprographics hub that will centralise all printing. As part of this development we have recently implemented a bespoke in-house print monitor application, built by our IT department, that handles print requests so that they can be managed efficiently. This has already led to a dramatic reduction in wasted print material.
