Another day another Duke of Edinburgh Gold. This time former pupils Matthew B who finally made it to Buckingham palace for his award. He wanted to publicly thank our D of E coordinator Bryn for the work he put in to facilitate the award. While we are on the subject a huge congratulations to Harriet W who has also just had her GOLD DofE Award approved, a fantastic effort throughout (especially on some of the hills on expedition). The award scheme is hugely popular at Battle Abbey with at any one time 80 – 90 pupils enrolled at various stages of their award process. This last year alone the volunteering aspect of our current candidates equated to some 1,391 hours of work in the community. That’s a total social value of approx £8,902. The Service aspect of our Battle Abbey values in action!
