Guardians application process in full swing

Each year Battle Abbey School appoints a new set of School ‘Guardians’. The equivalent of Head Boy and Head Girl (so called because they are the guardians of the School’s values and traditions). The Year 13 Guardians play a critical role relaying opinion from the pupil body to staff as well as managing and running school events, talking to prospective parents and contributing to school life in a number of other important ways. Due to the nature of our school, and our Sixth Form, lots of Year 12 pupils are keen to apply for positions of responsibility (in addition to Guardian many more apply for the other roles of responsibility such as Subject Bronze, Head of House or Head of Boarding) with the process starting in the summer term. The process of applying to be Guardian involves writing an application letter, speaking to the whole school about their vision for the school and an interview with the Headteacher about what they could bring to the role. This year we had no less than eight applicants for the 4 Guardian positions. Here’s a behind the scenes video of the assembly where Guardians delivered their speeches to the school. The application process is still ongoing and we will officially announce our winning candidates later this term. #battleabbeyschool #schoolguardians #belongingaspiratuionservice #battlevalues
