We are very proud of the long running success of our hugely popular Duke Of Edinburgh Award Scheme at Battle Abbey School. This year we have 46 Year 9 students on the pathway to achieving their eventual Gold award. As part of the volunteering aspect of the scheme Year 9 candidates must donate some 12 hours each to regional and local projects, and past years have seen pupils donate their time to a variety of local and regional charities and outreach schemes. We also have 56 Year 10 and Year 11 DofE students volunteering some 24 hours each. Add into this our Year 12 and 13 Gold Award students and we estimate that based on the minimum wage for a 16 year old this has seen some £13,000 worth of volunteering donated by Battle Abbey pupils this year. Well done to all our pupils who are involved in this most worthwhile of schemes. #dukeofedinburghaward
