On Sunday 9th February the school riding team went off to Petley Wood EC to compete at the inter-school eventer’s challenge.
The 70-75cm was a good warm up round with Sophia C, Eliza F, Mia G and Molly C entered as a team, with Eliza finishing 6th and Sophia 7th out of 27 riders.
In the 80-85cm we only had a team of three which meant the pressure was on! With a standard team of four the lowest placed rider in the team has their score dropped, so it doesn’t count towards the final team placing, so for us every round mattered. Sophia finished 8th, Mia 9th and Eliza was 20th out of 31 riders and that secured the team the WIN (beating Mayfield, Claremont and Cranbrook in the process) and as a result secured qualification for the Championships at Hickstead in May!
The team were already showjumping county champion in the 70/75cm class and now also the eventers challenge 80/85cm winners. Both classes will be contested at the finals at Hickstead in May so watch this space.
The next challenge will be to try to get the team qualified for the 70/75cm eventers challenge at the qualifiers next month, and also the JWS (jumping with style) qualifiers. #petleywood #horseriding #nationalschoolsequestrianassociation
