– Throughout the week of 3rd-9th February 2025, the Senior School celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week, with daily activities during form time focusing on the theme ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’. Students drew their own Personality Islands (like the character Riley in the movie Inside Out 2) alongside conversations about emotions and how we can help ourselves if we are experiencing a difficult emotion e.g., sadness. Students also had more lighthearted debates on topics such as ‘is cereal basically a soup’ (with a view to noticing ay strong emotional responses students might have to the topics). Students also watched Roman Kemp’s ‘Here4You’ video.
On Tuesday, the Welfare and Inclusion team led a Year 12 Enrichment Session of Self Care and Motivation, supporting students in thinking about what they can do to keep themselves physically and mentally well.
Finally on Thursday we held a Whole School Fundraiser where students could buy biscuits, Guess the Name of the Wellbeing Owl (FYI it was Oswald!), buy bookmarks and fidget toys students had made in wellbeing society, and make their own badge. Also, Miss Khan kindly donated samosas to sell and Madame Alff made chocolate brownies for staff to buy. As a result we raised £145.45 for #place2becharity The figure raised will pay for 3 specialist Place2Be Children’s Counselling Sessions.
