Incredible results from our Junior girls team who participated in the ESSA National secondary finals, hosted at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham earlier this month. The girls once again rose to the occasion and as always gave it their all. The team competed in the Medley and Freestyle relays, swimming against the best swimming schools in the country, and more than held their own. In the Freestyle the girls came away with a 15th place finish and in the medley a 25th place finish. (What makes this an even better result is that the girls only found out they had qualified for medley relay on the Tuesday before the competition!) 2,225 schools competed in the qualifying rounds and only the top 30 teams qualified for a place in the national finals. These outstanding results are a testament to the hard work, determination and talent of our swimmers.
Gemma Govan, Battle Abbey School Swim Teacher, said; “This truly is an incredible team and they really have been an absolute pleasure to coach. I was honoured to have spent the weekend in Birmingham to enjoy the National finals with them. Every time these girls swim you really do feel that you are watching something special. They are one of the most dedicated, hard working, but most importantly, fun and supportive team that I have had the pleasure of working with. I am beyond proud of these girls and look forward to our next swimming endeavour.”
Well done Jasmine, Isadora, Annabelle and Ella!
