The Governors of Battle Abbey School and the owner of Leeford Place Hotel are delighted to announce that the property, currently used as a hotel and event venue, is to become part of the School.
This beautiful country house located under 10 minutes’ drive from Battle Abbey School will become a boarding house providing outstanding facilities for pupils and additional teaching space for the School.
The Chair of Governors, RAdm John Kingwell said “The Governors are pleased to announce this news. The purchase of Leeford Place will enable us to improve the learning and boarding experience – benefiting day pupils and boarders alike. It is an important step in our School Strategy, ensuring that we continue to provide first class academic and boarding facilities into the future”.
The Headteacher Hannah Blake said “This is exciting news for the School. Leeford Place will provide modern, home-from-home boarding facilities in an idyllic country setting. In addition to providing a country campus, only 2 miles from the main School, it will enable us to look at how we maximise space across our various sites, improving the learning experience for everyone at Battle Abbey School”.
Leeford Place will become part of Battle Abbey School at the end of October 2024- and until then will continue as a hotel and event venue. The current owner of Leeford Place William Orr said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that the lovely Leeford Place Hotel is to become part of Battle Abbey School. This is great news for the Hotel and for the local area since the School will retain the essential nature of the existing House to provide a centre for learning in Whatlington”.
Leeford Place is a family run hotel in its own 8-acre grounds with a picturesque setting and landscaped gardens. Currently offering 17 en-suite guest bedrooms and 3 large meeting rooms it is ideally placed to become part of Battle Abbey School – providing additional facilities and sharing the welcoming family ethos and feel that is at the heart of the School’s success.
