GREEN CURRICULUM

In an era where environmental consciousness is of paramount importance we are embracing sustainability as a cornerstone of our ethos.

The school appointed its very first Sustainability Lead in 2023, and since then, a huge array of Green projects have been initiated, making our school an exemplar of environmental stewardship and a beacon for sustainable practices.

We foster a culture in the pupils where sustainability is not a buzzword but a way of life!

FAMILY COMMUNITY

A strong sense of family and community is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that a nurturing, inclusive environment is essential for children to thrive both academically and personally. From the moment families join our school, they become part of a warm and supportive community where every child is known, valued, and encouraged.

Our small class sizes and close-knit structure allow staff to build strong relationships with pupils and their families. Teachers take the time to understand each child’s unique strengths, challenges, and personality, creating a foundation of trust and mutual respect. Beyond the classroom, pupils learn the importance of kindness, responsibility, and working together. Older pupils mentor younger ones, and everyone contributes to the positive, caring atmosphere that defines our school.

This genuine sense of belonging helps children grow in confidence and resilience, knowing they are part of a community that celebrates every success and supports each step of their journey.

From the earliest years, our pupils benefit from instruction by subject-specialist teachers who bring both passion and expertise to their fields. This approach not only enriches the curriculum but also fosters a deep love of learning in every child.

From the earliest years, our pupils benefit from inspirational teaching by subject-specialist practitioners who bring both passion and expertise to their fields. This approach not only enriches the curriculum but fosters a deep love of learning in every child.

Welcome to Reception! During our children’s first year at school they begin our journey of learning and discovery through exploration in play, but also through structured sessions with an adult. It is a time when the Reception children start becoming independent, resilient learners through challenging themselves, sharing ideas and working together.

Our Reception classroom has been designed with areas for role-play, creativity and fun. Children enjoy a dedicated outside area featuring opportunities to plant and grow, play imaginatively and physically develop.

In Reception we are always looking in to the children’s interests to spark new learning and how we can support this through the use of our school grounds, our superb facilities and our wider school family.

In Key Stage 1, pupils are led through the curriculum by their class teacher. These teachers are supported in music, art, modern foreign languages, and physical education by our subject specialists. Our class teachers tailor their lessons for younger learners, focusing on creativity, confidence-building, and exploration. These early experiences lay a strong foundation for future learning. The building blocks they develop in these formative years support them through their whole school journey.

As pupils progress into Key Stage 2, specialist teaching is extended to all areas of the curriculum. Teachers with in-depth knowledge and training in their subject areas deliver engaging and dynamic lessons that go beyond the National Curriculum. Small class sizes enable personalised learning, encouraging pupils to question, investigate, and develop independence.

Our individual pupil outcomes at the end of Key Stage 2 are outstanding, both academically and pastorally.

Throughout the curriculum, leaders develop pupils’ ability to think and learn for themselves. Children in the early years are able to initiate their own learning, for instance by making potions in the outdoor area. In the prep school, pupils explore environmental issues in beach and outdoor learning activities, as well as learning a range of outdoor skills
