Top grades for A Level photographers

Some more photos from our amazing A Level Photography exhibition.

The photography produced this year was of a very high standard with students exploring a broad range of subjects leading to a diverse range of projects including video projections and experimental book works, alongside photographic prints.

Tomas C achieved an A* for his film exploring the theme of narrative and his exam project responding to the starting point of focus. Tomas’s work was accompanied by in-depth contextual analysis of his work and ideas, something that he will be able to apply in his degree in philosophy at Warwick University.

Jack F achieved and A for his digitally constructed images and film, his work featuring advanced digital postproduction editing in Photoshop.

Hugh C also achieved an A for his unusual night photographs using various lighting sources and techniques, including a vintage theatre light linked to a generator. His exam project responded to the theme of ‘locations’ where he photographed both abandoned and brutalist architecture.

Louis T was awarded a B for his project exploring the theme of the countryside which featured a series of concertina book works and a film projection of landscape filmed from a moving tractor. His exam project used mixed media to respond to locations.

Erin M-O looked at portraiture and distortion for her personal investigation and responded to the theme of ‘active or relaxed’ for her exam work. Her images combining both theatrical staging and digital manipulation. She was also awarded a B.

Finally, Coulson S explored the theme of decay for his personal investigation which resulted in some successful still life images. His exam subject was’ locations’ and he produced a short film for his response. His grade was C.
